Alberta used to have the best public education system in the world. No one would claim that now.

Our growing communities need more schools. But the UCP doesn't build schools. It just announces them over and over. Those "future school sites" south of Stoney Trail? None of them are funded and we won't see them for many years under the UCP, if ever.

We used to have the best public education system in the world under Peter Lougheed. Under Danielle Smith, it's the the lowest-funded public education system in Canada. Classrooms have never been larger or more complex, and all our students are suffering.

But instead of working with teachers, the UCP stripped away their human rights and used the notwithstanding clause against them. This didn’t solve a single issue in our schools. Teachers deserve support, not attacks from their own government, after the largest strike in Canadian history.

Health care

Danielle Smith promised to fix health care in 90 days when she became Premier. 1400 days later, public heath care has never been worse. People don't have family doctors, patients die in ER waiting rooms before they are seen, ambulances take hours to come if at all, and wait lists are longer than ever. All of this failure forces people to live in pain and delay important things like cancer treatment.

Instead of fixing what isn't working in our public health care system, Smith blew it up into more than 15 organizations, each with its own logo, CEO and bloated management. Her goal is clear: destroying public health to usher in an American-style, two-tier, for-profit health care, complete with health care cards that now expire, forcing people to pay out of pocket if they haven't been renewed.

Affordability

Nearly everyone is struggling with the high cost of living in Alberta. We have the highest inflation west of Atlantic Canada. Everything costs more, including auto insurance, property taxes, utilities and grocery prices.

On auto insurance, the UCP's failed schemes mean our insurance costs are the highest in the country. And next year, you'll lose the right to sue if you're injured in a car accident.

Your electricity bills have as much as tripled under the UCP and their push for data centres will increase those bills even more.

And the UCP keeps increasing your taxes. They increased your Calgary property taxes by 30%, or $340 for the average house, in only one year.

So what did Danielle Smith do about the cost of living? She refused to cut the fuel tax or do anything about grocery prices.

Time to save Canada

Danielle Smith is trying to distract us from your extreme agenda by dividing us yet again with separatism. Her referendum will cost us nearly $200 million. Just the separatism debate itself is hurting our economy, chilling investor confidence, driivng away jobs and creating chaos and division in our province.

The UCP is a separatist party and this government bows down to Donald Trump.

It's time for a government that unapologetically supports Canada and shows pride in our country, rather than working to tear us apart

That means not supporting the UCP and Mike Derry.
